Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, have called on the Federal Government to revive produce marketing boards nationwide.
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State
They made the call at the commissioning of Sunseed Feed Mills, established by Chanrai/Kewalrams Group Limited, in Zaria, noting that re-introduction of the boards will help to arrest unemployment and commercialise farm produce for effective export drive.
While Governor el-Rufai promised to create the enabling environment for the company and other private firms to thrive in the state, the Emir thanked the company’s management for investing in the state, especially Zaria, his domain, stressing that it had helped to take from the streets 250 persons through direct jobs and another 2,500 indirectly.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Managing Director of Chanrai/Kewalrams Group Limited, Mr. Victor Eburajolo, listed some of the challenges confronting its investment in the state to include irregular power supply, high maintenance cost and logistics.
He, however, expressed the company’s gratitude to Governor el-Rufai, emirate and people of the state for the encouragement given the management.
