The managing proprietor of Victory Group of Schools, Chief Christian Francis Olaniyan, has stressed the importance of teachers in national and educational development, praising Christian missionaries who brought education and got people trained to become teachers.
The proprietor, who spoke when the school celebrated its maiden edition of Teachers’ Day, added that presidents, governors, ministers, doctors, lawyers and other leaders attained their ladders of success through teachers who inculcated or impacted knowledge in them.
‘’Teachers are the most important tools in propelling education and the quality of the schools’ products depend on the quality of teachers”, he said, stressing that good teachers produce good students’ Olaniyan appealed to government at all levels to “appreciate the hard work of teachers who are the pillars of our socio-economic development by giving them their dues and the idea of teachers reward being in heaven should become a thing of the past.”
Other speakers who presented papers at the event are Venerable (Dr) Sunday Fajemisin and Uchenna Johnson Ezeagwu, a former student whose paper was titled, ‘Role of a teacher in nation building and the essence of a teacher’s motivations.’
