All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in Anambra State, Dr. Tony Nwoye has assured the Igala in the state that the time of their total marginalization from the scheme of things in the state would be over should he win the forthcoming governorship election.
Dr. Nwoye spoke during his campaign visit to coastal areas of Anambra West Local Government Area of the state that is partly occupied by indigenous Igala. He met with them at Uzam. Another meeting with other Igala speaking natives is scheduled to hold at Umueze Anam. That meeting was yet to take off as at press time.
Dr. Nwoye who represents the area in the House of Representatives and won the election despite the stern opposition by the APGA governor, Chief Willie Obiano who is also from Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, was during the occasion also commended by the people for his quality representation.
A statement on the visit issued by campaign spokesman, Barrister Nonso Madu quoted representatives of the people as applauding Dr. Nwoye for being the first serious governorship candidate to visit them and for his past representation of their interests in the House of Representatives.
Dr. Nowye who arrived the coastal area using boat said he would wipe away their tears saying that he decided not take them for granted in the way the state government has ignored them.
“I am part of you, I have been your representative and I know what you are passing through. Your own marginalization under Willie Obiano is special because he does not make any pretence about it. For some other people he could lie that he did this or he did that, but for you, he just acts as if you do not exist.
“But I know you exist and as your representative I have done my little in bringing some projects here but I assure you that as governor with executive power, your tears will be totally wiped away,” Nwoye was quoted as promising in the statement issued by his campaign.
Dr. Nwoye’s assurance was welcomed by the people who took turns to appreciate his representation in the House of Representatives praising him for his inclusive policies noting that he is the first person to extend political appointments to the people.
They also noted that he is the first governorship candidate to visit and solicit for their votes.
