Disable lawyer, promises to be asset, not liability to nation

A disable lawyer in the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Assosciation, NBA, Mr Abdusalam Idowu, has said in spite of his disability, he would not be detered from being an assest to the nation rather than a liability.
•The disable lawyer, Abdusalam Idowu being presented with a wheel chair and car by the lawyers.
Idowu, a cripple , who said he struggled so hard to become a lawyer made the disclosure while he was presented with a car and wheel chair to aid his legal practice by a group of Lawyers from Ikeja branch of the NBA recently.
The Lawyers, who were coordinated by a former Chairman of the Branch and the second Vice President of the NBA, Mr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani, whose Foundation, Ubani’s Foundation kick started the process with the initial seed, also presented a wheel chair to the physically challenged colleague.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, which took place at NBA Ikeja Bar Centre last week in the presence of some of the donors, Lawyers, Journalists and the representative of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Clara Ibirogba, the Director of Citizens’ Rights, Lagos State, Ubani appreciated the donors whose efforts saw to the reality of the gifts.
Ubani, who is also the Chairman of the Welfare Committee of the NBA, also used the opportunity to request that Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who is known for his care and love to the physically challenged persons in the State, give employment in the Ministry of Justice to Idowu who holds a degree in both Political Science and Law.
The NBA 2nd Vice-President further explained that, Idowu with a double degree will be an asset to the Ministry of Justice and to Lagos State in general.
Reacting to the kind gesture,after receiving the key to the Toyota Camry brand car, the excited Idowu said he was short of words for the gesture.
He explained that it was the desire to succeed in life, that made him undertake the venture of acquiring two degrees through begging. He promised never to be a liability to any person, but a huge asset to the nation.
