ASABA —DELTA State Chairman of Social Democratic Party, SPD, Mr Oke Idawane, yesterday, said the party was being repositioned to take over power from All Progressives Congress, APC, at the national level.
He added that the party was also re-strategizing to win the Delta State governorship election in 2019, noting that structures were being put in place to make the party more formidable both at the national and state levels.
Briefing newsmen after an enlarged state executive meeting of the party, Idawane said the SDP was out to push both the APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, aside in 2019, adding that the Ukwuani Local Government executive had been inaugurated, following the expiration of the past executive.
Naming Chief Joseph Ekeli and Mr Emikpe Anthony Chibueze as chairman and secretary respectively among others executive members, he said they will pilot the affairs of the party in Ukwani council “before, during and after the 2019 general election.”
He expressed hope that the member representing Uvwie council at the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Efe Ofobruku, who defected to the PDP recently from the SDP will return.
