2018 Budget: FMC Abuja to spend N105m on new crèche

ABUJA – The Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Abuja will spend N105 million out of its N923 million allocation for capital projects on the construction and equipping of a new crèche.

This was stated in the 2018 Appropriation Act as part of the capital projects the tertiary health institution intends to execute within the next 11 months.
Though the reason for the new creche and its proposed location were not stated, the sum of N50 million was earmarked for its construction and another N55 million for its equipping making a total N105 million.
Besides, the FMC will also be spending N600 million on the acquisition of an undisclosed quantity of non-tangible assets and N150 million on the completion and furnishing of six blocks of 3-bedroom flat doctors’ quarters.
Other projects the FMC will execute in 2018 include driving HIV awareness campaign at Federal College of Education, Zuba Abuja at the cost of N30 million.
The health institution will push similar campaign in select secondary schools across Kubwa suburb of the FCT for another N30 million.
Meanwhile, it was noted that a N2.6 billion was appropriated to the FMC out of which N1.04 billion will be spent on salaries and wages.
Other recurrent costs include non-regular allowances for staff to the tune of N534 million, NHIS capitation of N46 million, and N69 million contributory pension.
