ABUJA – Minister of State, Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu has restated his disinterest in vying for the governorship of Delta state, saying he is preoccupied with ensuring the unity of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the state.

“I have said that many times, I don’t know why people think I am going to talk about this thing. I don’t want to be governor, I am not running for governorship, I want to make sure the party unifies and selects a candidate we can work with. That’s my position on that”, he said.
Kachikwu spoke Monday shortly after he paid a courtesy call on the National Chairmen of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Speaking further on the politics of APC in Delta state, he said; “Actually, I didn’t come to take over any structure, the reality is, the politics of structure has passed. APC has a different approach to this thing. It doesn’t matter who has the structure, it doesn’t matter what the structure is. Things are going to be done right, things are going to be done collectively and in a unified manner so that everybody can work together.
“But, if you take the structure, people do not support you, then you are going to lose. Our business is to deliver the President and deliver the governorship. We are going to do it in a way that it will be contentious and in all inclusive. We have come to discuss with Comrade, we want to congratulate him formally and for us to make him understand that we have some work to do collectively in Delta and we are putting heads together. We have been working collectively so far just to find a common solution”, he added.
